The sound design in this song is alright. However, the song does sound rather muffled; boosting the high frequencies should fix this. The melodies are very dense and meandering, and I think that this works well for this song. The saw lead that you introduced in the second part of the song is quite nice; it adds some interesting consonances with the other lead. There is not a lot to this song, and it is rather short, but what is present is quite nice!

Syntrus responds:

Keep it short I always say! Flash game and video producers don't want big complicated hard to animate to scores.

This is not bad. The first twenty-five seconds could have used some more variation. However, you did make some interesting auditory permutations with the bass afterward. The buildup could have used a riser or siren or anything to indiciate rising action besides a simple snare rush. The drop is also somewhat empty, and I think that you could have put in a background melody or even a simple pad. The second buildup and drop both have the same problem of lack of density as the first. However, I do like the bass growl that you threw in before the proper second drop. Overall, this song appears to suffer from too much minimalism and lack of variation. However, what you do have here sounds pretty good! I am glad that you managed to get yourself to finish this!

These all sound very good! These songs are rather minimal, but I think that it adds to their atmosphere. However, the basses sounds too distorted, and I can feel them clipping with my headphones. With some mastering, you can probably fix it. I can't wait for your album!

Darkendersofficial responds:

Thank You! and yes most of the songs here are rather unmixed so most of them do clip a LOT

I really like the snare with the tremolo and reverberation at the beginning. The bassline really gives this song a heavy atmosphere, and the portamento synth also adds emotion, which I absolutely adore. Yes, I would say that this is synthwave. Regardless of the genre which this song is, this is very good! I can't wait to see what you will upload to your new account! ^3^

Jaybraham responds:

I did kinda pour my guts into this song, and it was was made at a very emotional time me and I was soooo hoping some of it bled through into my song.
All that to say I'm sooo glad you said what you did because yay that means exactly what I wanted ..
Anyway, thank you for being specific about what you liked about the song!
And thank you for noticing all the little things throughout the song. It's all the little things that can make or break a song for sure.
Thank you for supporting me! It means so much more than I can say :)))

This is extremely chaotic and dissonant. The bass is way too loud, and the melodies are incredibly chaotic. I suppose that you tried your best with this, and I will say that you have some learning to do.

This song is rather mediocre. I do wish that it had more contour (as in, builds and drops and things like that), but it sounds alright as it is right now. I will agree with TheGoldenProof with the fact that this needs more variations in melody. However, the instruments sound very good, and I do like the percussion! You have potential!

GDSnake responds:

what about trapstep?

I love how this turned out! It does sound a lot like something that Tool would produce. The guitar is very gritty and distorted, and although you may have distorted it too much, it still sounds very good. I actually like Tool's new album myself, but nonetheless, everyone has their own taste. The only thing that I ask of you is to extend this, because this is very good. I hope that you have a nice day!

This loop is surprisingly unnerving. You definitely succeeded at creating a very foreign feeling with this track. I also really like the way in which you layered the drums and the bass instrumentation; they give the track a very frantic feeling.

Very good! I like the synthwave atmosphere of this song. Also, the chord progression during the breakdown is very euphoric for me, and I like the filtered drum sounds. However, the transition to the piano part at the end is very rough, and the arrangement of the elements of the entire song feels rather rudimentary. This is also very short, and I wish that it was longer. Overall, this is not bad!

Wow! This song is absolutely flawless and incredibly terrifying! The ambience at the beginning initiates the petrifying atmosphere of the song, and the way you introduce the distorted guitar sounds and the pounding drums is incredibly beautiful. The soundscapes presented by this song are very dystopian, and your intended theme of collapse fits your music's timbre very well. You must have taken an abnormal amount of effort to produce this, and that effort has heavily brought benefit to the final result!

zybor responds:

Thank you, Axeph for your thoughtful review. :)

I also made this track in Ubuntu, though with FL Studio under Wine. The drums were programmed under Renoise and then exported to FL for final production. While I prefer FL with piano roll over tracker, I think tracking is much faster method to work with beats and stuff.

My works are often aimed for high quality production. While I'm an opposite of a perfectionist, if not downright reckless IRL, however I'd spent more time perfecting my musical works more than anything I've done. Getting things sound good has been priority in all my production, regardless of what sound it given.

Thank you again for your thoughts and kind words. Have a great weekend, and happy Halloween :)
