the intro/buildup is nice, but i feel like the drop doesn't sufficiently carry the energy into a climax. idk, maybe try some bass design? i feel like throwing in some quick chops would have worked better than what you did here

additionally, the drums are kind of weak, probably because there isn't any sidechaining to them, though some saturation and compression would help as well

but, it's not all bad! i like the energy in the beginning, you just need to carry it over properly. the chord progression and melodies suit the energy well

overall, not bad!

ChordsInMotion responds:

Thanks for your review! After relistening today, I definitely agree with all the constructive criticisms

I'll try to do something with this advice and I'll update this review if I can figure out how to make it better >:)

Thanks again!

UPDATE: I have uploaded an improved version :)

fuck yeah, oldschool dubstep. gives me real rottun records vibes

of course, maybe the bass is a bit crunchy for my taste, but that's minor

Tapestoppa responds:

haha yeah, loved the oldschool wobbles and still do (whatever happened to them they were so cool). havent seen the name rottun in awhile too

cool atmosphere! i need to get into witch house more

Golden-Calf responds:

Thank you! And yes you should - I am obsessed

you sure the music in your dream wasn't sewerslvt?

in all seriousness, this is pretty good! could maybe use some more reverb, but the arrangement is nice, and mixing trance stuff with dnb was a good idea

Jeansowaty responds:

I DO know sewerslvt but I don't think my brain associated the song with that :D nonetheless such feedback makes me more than happy. Thanks!

jesus that waveform is a straight up slab, and i love it. maybe the breaks are a bit buried, but i can see why

and yeah mislabeling in music genres irritates me as well

CHEEZ2600 responds:

Agreed.

i really like the chords, but i think the growl could use less phaser and more saturation, it sounds like a fart lmao

GlaceonDash responds:

Understood! I don't know how to do stuff like this lol

i agree with the other two reviewers, there needs to be some more basses to fill up the space (or maybe add like a pad or something if silence was your intention). the drums could also be compressed and saturated to make them more powerful (if not entirely replaced). i think the lead at the beginning could be beefed up somehow or layered as well

hey, you're part of the sunvox music discord, right? hmu and i can give you some cool bass sounds and tips; just find my tag in the members list

OVERSCORE responds:

Dubstep isn’t really my thing, I guess… also, the bass was made by a bass drum playing over and over sped up so that it makes a note.

maybe a bit slow for dnb? but good and makes great use of very little instrumentation

alobx responds:

i think its ideal for this song (not ideal for dnb, yes). its uses 7 modules.

pretty cool dnb, and that flute is great! maybe too squashed (mixing wise) for my taste tho?

OVERSCORE responds:

Only been doing this for 8 months, not exactly sure what that second part means… :/ but thanks anyways!

very pleasant to listen to! i like the keys sounds you used here, and i like the moment where the melody glitches out in the second drop. the minecraft sounds are very nostalgic too

GazingSkies responds:

Thanks! This was the first time I remixed a Minecraft song so I thought I’d include the Minecraft sounds for an extra nostalgic effect 😁
