the snare sounds a bit buried in the mix, and the sound design of the basses can be a bit iffy at certain points. not that they're bad, i personally just am not much of a fan of them

also at some parts the timing of the elements sound off (like at 1:44)

also as with that other song of yours i reviewed the mixing could be better. i definitely hear undesirable limiter distortion at 2:11 during that lowpass sweep, you could try automating the output volume of the filter during that part to fix it

but you do present great ideas here! the arps and tonality sound cool

Lumiflag responds:

Hey thanks for the review! I really admit that mixing is something that I definitely need to improve, that's a step I tend to skip because I'm usually to lazy or just can't figure out what to do.
The offbeat synth at 1:44 was actually something I wanted, since in the original song the bassline was doing its own thing (polyrhythm huh).

But I appreciate the constructive feedback ⭐

the instruments and production sound really good! i'm not sure how much of the melodic/harmonic content is composed by you or part of the game music you're remixing but that sounds great as well

timaeus222 responds:

Thank you! :) I'd say it's about 70% original if we look at the instrumentation+melody+harmony, since a lot of it is in 5/4 time signature with modified rhythms, and the harmonies were written by ear.

I also edited the description to include references to the themes I used.

pretty good! i suggest writing a nice melodic chorus after this part and seeing where it takes you afterwards

FarFromSundown responds:

Thanks! Yea, I think you and I were thinking the same thing with the chorus. I'm just trying to play around with some leads to compliment the heaviness while still maintaining the energy of the first couple parts. Tis a struggle haha

awesome! i love me some distortion and industrial dystopic vibes

Arponax responds:

Yes, its so much fun, i would like to explore distortion rabbit hole a bit deeper :D to be able to make something a little bit more precise yet powerful.

I updated the last part btw XD i tried to make it longer so, yeah :D

i'll be honest, this could use a bit of work. the sound design is servicable, but the way the basses flow into each other needs some love. right now it just sounds like a barrage of random sounds. normally that's what i like, but i also like a balance of that and actual flow, and this song lacks coherent flow. also, the mix seems a bit thin and lacking low mids. too trebly as well

please try to take these things into account next time

edit: both drops

Casporb responds:

I know it's not great. I just wanted to get something out. Expect improvement next time.

Small question, are you talking about the first or second drop?

you definitely nailed that 80s style here, i'm loving the synths

it is crazy to think that 2017 was 7 years ago

ItsBurner responds:

Thank you and happy holidays =]

the bass glitches in the drop are pretty neat, and i really like the tonality! very good overall

Ziondiac responds:

Thanks for commenting man, appreciate the feedback!

lol, i hear that sample of afx's "schottkey 7th path". that's pretty cool!

my only two criticisms are that it feels like the samples don't really line up with the breaks rhythmically. you may want to check that out in your project and see if the samples are at the same tempo as the breaks. the other is that i can hear potentially unwanted clipping during the noise swell at 5:20-ish

but, the atmosphere is pretty nice!

foxcannon responds:

lol yep, thank you for the feedback!

i'm really loving these breakbeat vibes! this song really feels like it goes somewhere and i like that. the progression is really good

Ne1gh responds:

Thanks! <3

pretty cool! the guitar sounds pretty good, but i do wish it was a bit faster, and it is somewhat repetitive

ChordsInMotion responds:

Thanks! And yeah, that's fair lol, usually my songs are a faster tempo than this but for some reason I decided to lower it a bit this time around. Definitely gotta work on not being as repetitive with my music though lol
